“Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?”
-Mary Oliver
In its quiet call, I find courage—
To live with purpose,
To heal,
To grow.
About Us
Ji Hwang
Born in Seoul, Korea, I moved to New York City in my twenties to study art, later settling in a suburb of Boston to build a family. For over two decades, I worked as a jewelry maker and sculptor, with creativity as my lifeline, especially while navigating life across cities and suburban environments.
After relocating to California, I encountered profound personal challenges, including the loss of loved ones and the weight of depression. These experiences awakened a deep thirst for healing both body and mind. This search led me to the Tamalpa Institute, where I am currently on the path to Registered Somatic Movement Therapist.
At Tamalpa, I’ve discovered the Life/Art Process, a healing journey rooted in self-discovery and trust. Using intermodal expressive tools—movement, drawing, poetry, journaling, and sound—we learn to listen deeply to the wisdom of the body. These practices have reignited creativity, fostered a sense of community, opened pathways to leadership, and restored flexibility and spontaneity.
I believe we awaken our full human capacity by rooting ourselves deeply in the earth while reaching toward the sky in spirit. Our bodies are vital microcosms within this vast macrocosm—becoming friends with them is essential to true healing and connection.
Now, I offer workshops inspired by this path. They are safe, sacred spaces where we can come together—whether to process grief, invite joy, or simply move with whatever is alive within us. I warmly invite you to join me.
Kenny Chon
Kenny is a lifelong musician who uses music to bridge body and mind, integrating it with somatic movement to support healing and self-awareness. A certified music therapist since 2013, he has found his calling in guiding therapeutic processes that calm the nervous system and shift brainwaves toward balance and peace.
With experience working in hospitals, churches, and community settings, Kenny brings a compassionate, grounded presence to his work. In addition to his musical path, he has practiced Korean herbal medicine for over 30 years, drawing from a deep well of traditional knowledge and holistic wisdom.
Kenny believes true healing comes from returning to nature and learning to trust life as a teacher. By flowing with its rhythms, we cultivate harmony within ourselves and with the world around us. As he often says, “Each one of us has chosen to come into this world to be a student of life."
